ELEVATING THE PLAYING FIELD

Rogue Game Gear approached our team to rewrite the rules of a game controller. We took the opportunity to re-imagine the dream setup, incorporating tangible aspects of a cockpit experience into the digital world!

REALISM

Optimized ergonomics for prolonged usage and intuitive user experience were our key design drivers. In a market saturated with typical handheld sticks, we crafted a theme of Professional Equipment to provide functionalities and customizable touch points associated with automotive control decks and flight instrument panels.

DUAL JOYSTICK

The dual joystick interface was designed as a three tier layout. The middle console being the main power block with communications and miscellaneous functions. The left and right zones were assigned as movement and weaponry controls, catering for ambidexterity.

Our aim was to deliver an unfair advantage to gamers, delivering on Rogue Game Gear’s brand promise. More importantly, we sought to create a game controller that was a truly unique immersive experience.

The Mek-Fu was featured at the launched of the popular online multiplayer mech combat game – Hawken, developed by Adhesive Games in Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The Mek-Fu provided an intense battle experience that captures the feel of piloting a mech war machine!

Rogue Game Gear roped us in to design the Mek-Fu communications graphics and feature booth at the Hawken launch event in E3. The result was an engaging and distinct military cockpit pilot look and feel that captures the competitive attitude and swagger most gamers wanted.
